Today marks 100 years since Great Britain went to war against Germany and the beginning of WWI. As a result, Australia was also at war.

In a speech, Lord Grey said:
'The lamps are going off all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.'

I am asking residents to commemorate this historic Date and remember those we lost in the Great War by dimming your lights at dusk this evening. I encourage everyone to stop at 5:17pm and take a few minutes to remember. Lest we forget.

Mayor, Ben Keneally
